Natural Moisturizing LubriCANT, because You CAN

Share

Hello beautiful people! Happy Sunday and happy Father’s day!

Unrelated to fathers day, or maybe, all related to it….  (wink, wink) I have partnered up with the company SYLK to help spread some knowledge and awareness about lubricants, why some may need them, how are some toxic for our bodies, and some facts about SYLK;

SYLK

SYLK is a natural moisturizing lubricant

Why is this company super important to know about, because, first of all, I hate that the word can’t is in lubricant, because, even if you experience vaginal dryness, you CAN still have enjoyable sex, and not just that, you can have toxic-free enjoyable sex with SYLK! woohoo! Also, some other reasons to know of this company:

  1.  It is the only all-natural moisturizer lubricant on the market made with New Zealand kiwifruit plant extract (ecologically friendly). Due to the receptive mucous membranes of the vagina and vulva easily absorb ingredients into the body, you should stay away from most lubricant brands as they have harmful ingredients (will discuss more further down… no pun intended…maybe?)
  2. Vaginal dryness is real, and common! There are many factors that may play into that cause of it including hormonal changes, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, diabetes, imbalance of vaginal pH, or medication side effects (sometimes from certain birth control pills), to emotional and psychological issues, like the lack of desire, stress, depression, or anxiety (stress leads to insufficient blood flow!). Also, even due to some cold medicines! The most common cause however, as research indicates, is from menopause. 40 to 60 percent of women suffer from vaginal dryness as a result of menopause, this is huge! And these 40-60 women may be turning to lubricants that are chemically harmful and toxic for their bodies and their partner’s bodies.
  3. A lack of lubrication may cause painful sex, and may lead to feelings to guilt, shame, confusion, and can create some problems in relationships.

Yes, these facts are scary, and here are some more scary details about the mainstream lubricants ingredients:

  • First off, many synthetic lubricants contain chemicals that were first designed to be used on automobiles or in oven cleaners..ummmmm come again?
  • Paragons – These are the boogeyman’s offsprings (weird analogy, stick with me here I’m trying), they sneak into your dreams without consent and make them into nightmares. Parabens are synthetic preservatives that are absorbed through your skin. They can mimic estrogen in your body, and may be linked to increased risk of breast cancer. I’ll pass, how about you?
  • Petroleum or petroleum-derived ingredients. (No analogy here..sorry I know you really were looking forward to it). Anyone ever just used Vaseline petroleum jelly as a lubricant thinking you’ve found a perfectly healthy solution? Sorry to break it to ya, that’s a no-no. They may contain impurities linked to cancer and other health conditions; they can also coat your skin, impeding its normal functions and therefore, not allowing it to “breathe.”
  • Silicone oils – these bad boys have toxic side effects similar to petroleum-based products, they coat your skin, affecting its normal functions and permeability. The companies also try to trick us by having like, 500 different names for silicone oils…(insert major eye roll)…but I’ve got you covered to the best of my knowledge. Here are some other label names you may see that just mean silicone oil chemicals- dimethicone, highly polymerized methyl polysilozane, methyl polysiloxane, mirasil DM 20, and viscasil 5M.
  • Phenoxyethanol – ladies and gents, I present to you a chemical used in lubricant which one uses while, reproducing, that actually cause reproductive damage! What a fun fact huh?
  • Glycerin and glucose – These are your two friends from science class remember? or was it nutrition? Anyways, as sugars, glycerin and glucose may feed candida, which is a yeast that’s normally present in small amounts in the healthy vagina, but can proliferate and cause vaginal yeast infections in women who are prone to them. NOT FUN!
  • Propylene glycol– This one may cause burning or tissue irritation in some women. Astroglide, one common over-the-counter lubricant, contains this ingredient.
  • Chlorhexidine – An ingredient in some multipurpose lubricants, such as K-Y jelly, and it can be irritating to some women.

Okay, enough fun facts for one post. Let’s talk more about SYLK shall we?

SYLK So, what makes it so safe to use you ask? These are the only ingredients used: Aqua (Deionized Water), Vegetable Glycerin, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Plant Extract, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract. SYLKHow is it bio-sustainable? “SYLK® natural lubricant is created from kiwi vine extract from kiwifruit orchards in the Pukekohe area of New Zealand. A byproduct of the kiwifruit harvesting operation, the vines are normally left to decompose on the ground, offering no other viable use aside from nutritional benefits from plant waste. We extract the kiwi gum and utilize this significant natural ingredient that would otherwise be wasted. Once processed, we compost the vines and recycle them back to the orchard in concentrated form.”

SYLK also has no smell, and it’s water based which leaves no greasy residue, no bed sheets stains, and truly mimics the body’s natural lubricant. They also come in these to-go mini packages, how cute and convenient for trips ? SYLKI hope that I was able to spread some awareness about the subject and that whomever needs to use lubricants will shop wisely and with more knowledge by choosing SYLK !

Thanks for reading guys! XOXO,
